Call VINE toll-free at (877) 411-5588 or register online for this notification at http://sdsheriff.net/victims.

Ordering Copies of Police Reports
Victims of domestic violence have a right to one free copy of their police report. To obtain a copy of your police report, contact the responding law enforcement agency in the jurisdiction where the incident occurred via mail or in-person. You will be required to provide the following information to request a report copy: the names of the parties involved, the date and location of the incident, and the report number, if available. If you request the report in-person, bring identification with you.
Domestic Violence Restraining Orders
There is no fee for filing a domestic violence restraining order, and you can get help with the restraining order application process from a no-cost domestic violence clinic. For an updated list of TRO Clinics and Family Law Facilitators locations and hours, visit www.sdcourt.ca.gov, click on the “Family” tab and then select “Domestic Violence.” For more information about seeking a domestic violence restraining order, visit www.sdsheriff.net/DV.
It’s recommended that you arrive a minimum of two hours before the clinic closes, and are prepared to spend a minimum of one-half of a day to a full day at the court to obtain your domestic violence restraining order. You are encouraged to make child care arrangements, as space is limited at the child care facilities at each courthouse.
To complete your restraining order paperwork, bring with you the following items, if available: The address for the person you would like restrained; that person’s date of birth; a physical description of that person; a copy of the police report, if applicable; and photographs of any injuries, if applicable.
